April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance month! During the month of April our staff and students wear shirts to show our support and help spread acceptance and awareness about autism. Every year Meagan Moore and the Shiner Lions Club design and sell Autism Awareness and Acceptance shirts in our area. The proceeds from these shirts are donated to DLSEC for our annual special events like prom and Reel Fishing.
This year's shirt, car decals, and stickers were designed by Meagan's son and DLSEC student, John Moore.

Staff are ready to assist as needed, but the students learn about special events this month and how to add them to their digital calendar, and they develop keyboarding skills through targeted keyboard practice and instruction as well as through relevant keyboarding lessons including typing their individual daily schedules.

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the Lions Clubs of Yoakum, Hallettsville, Shiner, Moulton, and Yorktown for sponsoring the annual Lions Club Christmas party for the students of the DeWitt-Lavaca Special Education Cooperative multi-district programs. Through the Lions Clubs' generous support, all of our multi-district students received a gift from Santa at the party. The students were elated as they each opened a gift from the wish lists they submitted to Santa. Members of the five area Lions Clubs who attended the party are pictured.

Where in the world is ECSE 2? Well, here's the update from Mrs. Hanson:
ECSE 2 students have been learning about Christmas around the world. Last week on Monday, we "visited" Australia and made sand dollar ornaments and made fairy bread. Wednesday, we "visited" Canada and had a Christmas parade. We also made Santa hats out of red and white fluffy paint. We visited Sweden. We made St. Lucia wreaths and made Swedish Rice Pudding.
Stay tuned for more Christmas adventures around the world!
