Tuesday, march 7 RISE parents/guardians are invited to visit their student's class at 2:00 PM for a Peach Cobbler Cookie--Peach Cobbler is the state cobbler of Texas!  Wednesday, march 8 DLSEC staff will have Pecan Pie Bars with work friends because Texas is known as the Friendly State and Pecan Pie is the state pie of Texas! RISE high school students will deliver trays of Pecan Pie Bars and Peach Cobbler Cookies to the offices of our 9 DLSEC districts.
DLSEC is seeking applicants for the campus evening custodian position. The evening custodian position is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, forty hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. The position also includes paid time off, contributions to Teacher Retirement System, and insurance benefits. In Mrs. Thiry's class on Friday, the Unique Learning System curriculum assignment had a recipe for football fritters made with zucchini. Students learned a lot about trying new things and not prejudging along with healthy alternatives. Everyone tried the football fritters and most went back for seconds.

Today the team from J Mark Threadgill & Company came to begin installing new perimeter fencing for the RISE elementary playground. The Don G Kaspar Foundation is generously providing funding to assist with the fencing project. Students and staff will be more safe with the installation of this new fence. Weather permitting, the fence project will be completed on Monday.

RISE Secondary 1 students had a cooking lesson and practiced measurement and counting skills. They made funny-faced pancakes following a recipe from the Unique Learning System curriculum with their story, “Kiruna Snow Festival.”

Despite the cooler weather, Elementary 1 students are preparing for Spring by taking initial steps for their bean harvest! Did you know that there are multiple learning objectives from just one bean seed, dirt, water, and sunshine? Students are exposed to following step-by-step directions, observing the life cycle of the bean plant, and identifying parts of a plant. All while having fun! Stay tuned for photo updates!
