Today in the Yoakum High School kitchen lab, the RISE high school students made homemade black bean and corn salsa and tortilla chips. This was the cooking lesson for this week from the Unique Learning System curriculum. Students help with measurement, cooking, and cleaning throughout the lesson.
For some students, black bean and corn salsa was a new delicacy to try. All of the students gave it a try (some more willingly than others). Some liked it and wanted more, and some were happy to just enjoy the tasty homemade tortilla chips without the salsa.
