Mrs. Cowan’s Class Participates in “Read across America” with special Guest Readers

Mrs. Cowan's class enjoyed listening to guest readers during their participation in "Read across America."

Guest readers and their literary selections included the following:

  • Jason Appelt, DLSEC Executive Director, read IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE by Laura Joffe Numeroff and Felicia Bond. Mr. Appelt shared chocolate chip cookies with each of the students.

  • Meredith Hairell, DLSEC Director of Operations, read LITTLE QUACK by Lauren Thompson and Derek Anderson. After the reading, each student received a little rubber duck to commemorate the story.

  • Diane McCommas, Mrs. Cowan's mom, read KINDNESS MAKES ME STRONGER by Elizabeth Cole.

  • Officer Sarah Mendoza, School Resource Officer for Yoakum ISD, read WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE by Maurice Sendak.

The students had a great time listening to the stories and interacting with the special readers.
