DLSEC multi-district high school students in Valerie Thiry's and Brad Roznovsky's classes put their culinary skills to work making peach cobblers to deliver for Texas Public Schools Week. Peach cobbler is the state cobbler of Texas. In a tradition started in 2023, Mrs. Thiry spearheaded the efforts for students to deliver a fresh-made peach cobbler to the administrative offices of eight of our member districts--Ezzell, Hallettsville, Nordheim, Shiner, Sweet Home, Vysehrad, Yoakum, and Yorktown--and to several other locations including Yoakum ISD Food Services Department and Maintenance Department. Since Moulton ISD was not in school on the day of delivery, Moulton Police Department received the Moulton peach cobbler delivery.
LaWanda Wright drove the bus for the tour through Lavaca and DeWitt counties to make the deliveries.
Students and staff were treated to lunch at Dairy Queen as a part of this community-based instruction opportunity.
We commend our students and staff for helping show how much DLSEC appreciates our Texas public schools!
